Blue Tutors
The role of teaching takes on a broad responsibility of educating a student creatively, intellectually and emotionally. As an artist, with poetry and philosophy forming the backbone to my approach, I will be able to guide the student to cope with any anxieties, fears and apprehensions they may have when completing work. Pressure and stress can stall a person's ability to think. By being patient, forming an emotional connection and speaking to them about their lives outside of school I can potentially set the student up to cope with many challenges in the future. I have received excellent feedback from several long running tutees about my help in developing them as a human being in addition to their academic output. I believe that tutoring should not just be a strict, orderly process, but an imaginative, fun and expansive learning curve. I get to understand a different person's attitudes and develop a bond of empathy to make the other person feel more secure in their environment. Tutoring is a two way learning simulation as I improve my knowledge of the behaviour, moods, interests and personalities each individual has. I am especially proficient in the fields of Maths, English and Philosophy with the ability to teach Science, Psychology, Geography and Economics.
The art of education another is one that holds an unfettered key to unlocking the potential of a child. I am looking to help others learn in a way which retains knowledge on a long term basis rather than a fleeting excursion that will be forgotten quickly. I am able to provide learning materials as well as priceless expertise upon how to tackle exam questions as I have accumulated a vast amount of experience in guiding previous students through past exam papers. I am open to learning from others and will take on criticism in a healthy manner. The learning environment should not be stale; the individuals involved should be embalming the fount of new ideas and thoughts in an enjoyable and inquisitive way. As a teaching assistant, I have helped several students with special educational needs (autism, dyslexia, ADHD) whilst also setting up my own poetry extra curricular club for students to improve their mode of expression, reading and identity.
Muay Thai training classes are something that provide a deep sense of relaxation to me through physical exertion and concentration upon breathing. I consider myself to be an artist that writes poetry and philosophy predominantly. I attend philosophy reading groups on a regular basis and exercise my poetics at open mic events. Reading is an inexorable passion that has provided me with inspiration and a sense of self, as demonstrated by my decision to volunteer at a Red Cross bookshop. I like to involve others in lucid conversations ranging from metaphysics to politics. Nature is of incredible significance to me though its rich symbolism and infinite beauty; I have volunteered infrequently for the conservation volunteers (TCV) group in London.
