Greetings! If you're after a tutor for an arts subject, a humanities subject, or for university applications, you've come to the right place. I am a fun, outgoing tutor, who is VERY good at explaining ideas, and helping students to internalise and understand key concepts. Throughout my academic career, tutoring has always been one of my passions, and I love to communicate ideas and knowledge to other people.
My tutoring experience is extensive, and I have tutored many students in person for the past four years. I am skilled at helping students to receive and interact with material on their own terms, encouraging active participation in a way that will improve not only exam technique, but general enjoyment and understanding of the material. Indeed, many of my teaching techniques are based off those I myself have received in the one-on-one style tutorials at my college, Lady Margaret Hall. By following a teaching style similar to that of the Oxford classroom, I educate students in a manner that will prepare them for and enhance their interaction with university level work. Such a style of learning goes beyond that of the A-level and GCSE syllabus, which is often too linear to prepare students for an academic future. Moreover, my particular brand of teaching complements that received in the classroom, allowing students to view their exam material in new and exciting ways, that will greatly boost their marks. As a result, many have improved their abilities in the classroom as a whole, greatly enhancing their abilities when it comes to exams. More than half have received 3 A/A* grades at A-level.
Who am I outside of Blue Tutors? Honestly? I'm a bit of a nerd. English Literature has always been a passion of mine, and I am fascinated by all periods of literature throughout English history, from the year 850 until the present day. I have a great depth of knowledge regarding philosophical and contextual matter, alongside a familiarity with critical material and theoretical approaches. My particular interests revolve around Shakespeare, Robert Frost, and modern children's literature. The last interest claims pride of place, having netted me with Oxford University's "Chancellor's Essay Prize for English Literature" in 2016. Beyond academic interests, I am involved in a number of literary magazines and University societies. I have a great interest in creative writing, having written a number of novels and short stories. Some of my work can be found in the 24th edition of The Mays Anthology - the leading undergraduate anthology in the UK, famous for launching the career of Zadie Smith.
