Collapsed free school projects 'wasted at least £2.3m'
Education Secretary Michael Gove has been asked to come clean on how much money has been spent on collapsed free schools projects in England. Shadow Education Secretary Stephen Twigg says at least £2.3m was spent on three projects alone, two of which were abandoned and one which has 68 pupils.He claims the Department for Education is yet to give details on a further three projects which have foundered.

What exactly does BIg Business want from schools?
Big Business is always carping about exam results. Not enough kids take Maths A Level. Not enough can do simple mental arithmetic. School leavers can’t write letters, reports, professional standard emails. Their spelling is atrocious, their grammar worse. They don’t know how to behave in a professional environment. They could do with more vocational skills.

Increase interest in your subject by making it relevant
Academic subjects can be so dry when you’re at school. Teachers try hard to make it interesting but the same things just don’t interest everyone. This year I am determined to get my students reading more. Reading more is key to understanding the techniques used by authors - the analysis of which is a key skill in both English Language and Literature. It also improves vocabulary, spelling, creative writing, paragraphing and sentence construction.
