Assessing Tutors and Training Assessors

Well the assessments in Cambridge last week went very well. I was concerned that lots of people would have to cancel because of the weather, or because people are often busy close to the start of term, but that wasn’t the case, and we found lots of great new tutors.

I trained another assessor in London last week, which I really enjoyed, but I also identified a few problems with the way I was teaching the material. There are lots of definitions, and I don’t think I was properly cementing those definitions before asking the assessor to apply what she had learned. I’m positive that this can be improved fairly easily though, and I’m looking forward to when I next train someone, which is this Friday.

Outside of these two things, and all the admin surrounding processing the assessments, and preparing for the training, there wasn’t much time to do anything else, and it looks like it may be a similar story this week, because we have more assessments today in Oxford.
