Assessment Nightmare

Hello, it’s been an action packed week for three main reasons; two which were planned, and one which definitely wasn’t.

The two planned reasons were my trip to Cambridge to train another assessor to assess tutors, which went very well, and filing our yearly employee return. I suspect that many people have no idea what this is. I certainly didn’t five years ago. One of the joys of running your own business is that you do any and all jobs that need to be done, including payroll. To be honest, the employee return isn’t nearly as difficult and stressful as a tax return, but it still has to be done.

The unplanned reason was on Saturday morning when an assessor was ill, and so didn’t make the assessment. In the last five years I’ve never missed an assessment time, so had no experience in dealing with this, and no real plan for it (I just didn’t expect it to happen). The worst thing was that I only found out about the problem two hours after it was scheduled to finish. Thankfully I’ve got through to all of the applicants, and they’ve all been very understanding. It just wasn’t the start to my bank holiday weekend that I was looking for!
