I’ve felt very productive over the last 7 days, even though Harriet was away for two days, and I was holding down the fort. I was slightly shocked at how many phone calls we’re getting at the moment; I knew we were busy – lots of people requesting tutors, but I can really appreciate how great Harriet must be at multitasking, since her daily tasks are constantly interrupted by new students on the phone.
I’ve begun to make real headway into improvements to the website. As I’ve said a number of times, over the last six months I’ve worked hard on learning enough programming to be competent enough to know what I’m doing, but there is a list of more than 50 tasks which I have to do, and if I’m honest, that list was quite overwhelming. However, in one day last week I crossed 6 tasks off the list (I completed them, didn’t just cross them off), and it’s so uplifting to know that I’m going to get through everything much more quickly than I’d previously hoped.
This week is already looking jam-packed. I’m training an assessor in Cambridge on Wednesday (one of our tutors), as well as meeting a programmer who might be interested in doing some work for us. On Friday I’m going back to Cambridge because it’s my college football team’s old boys game on Saturday, and traditionally we travel up on Friday afternoon. It’s great fun, and I’m really looking forward to it, but it does mean a weekend off, and that’s the last thing I need at the moment.
