Tutors Languages, and More Lessons Being Taught

I’m afraid that the last week was disrupted a little. I say disrupted, but the things I had to do, train an assessor, and do some publicity by filming some instructional maths videos, were obviously done for Blue Tutors. It’s just that those things distract me from all the long-term jobs, which seem far more important. I don’t know if they genuinely are more important, but sometimes it feels as though getting a small task done is less productive than 20% of a big task, even if they took the same amount of time.

Anyway, something I did get done last week was adding a section on tutors profiles so that every tutor can update their language proficiencies. It’s strange that we hadn’t done this before, because it’s very common for a tutor to say they can teach a language, and yet their qualifications show nothing related to that language. It was also a good learning experience for me (I used something I hadn’t before when I’ve programmed), and, as always, it’s very rewarding when you do something that actually works.

I’ve also had a few tutors comment to me that, from the outside, everything seems very busy with the number of new students available. I think we’re roughly 10-20% up on the number of lessons being taught, compared to last year, which is really great news. Let’s keep it up!
