No Time to Enjoy the Weather

Well the weather’s improved. I actually find it really difficult to work at times like this, because I’m not constrained by actual working hours, so when there’s a choice between staying in, sitting in front of my computer and working, or heading out to have fun in the sunshine it’s a very difficult choice. There is so much to do though, that it’s getting difficult to do much else other than work, even on weekends.

The latest thing I’ve taken on is to improve the checks that we do to ensure that a student’s tuition is running smoothly. If you’ve been tutoring for a while then you’ll know what we mean. Generally it’s things like when a lesson is booked for a long time in the future, when tuition stops etc. At the moment we have to email the tutors concerned, and it’s labour intensive (both for us, and our tutors). What I’m trying to do is create an easier way for tutors to explain a situation if it’s unusual.

Also, we had another complaint about an assessment last week. This one was similarly strange to the one I wrote about a couple of weeks ago. This time an applicant turned up late, at first claimed the assessor was wrong about when the assessment should have started, and then emailed to complain that the assessor was distracted because of concern over running late all day. Occasionally we have to deal with people who appear to be incredibly self-important. I supposed the best solution is to just not let them be Blue Tutors.
