Happy new year to all of our tutors and students! I’m immensely positive about 2011; I think we’ll be able to help more students than ever over the next 12 months.
I feel a bit like a broken record when I say this, but the things I’ve achieved in the last week were mainly programming tasks, and, for now, will go unnoticed by tutors and students, they have been fairly helpful for me and Harriet though. I mentioned this a few weeks ago, but I’m changing the way that qualifications work. What I’ve done so far is to make sure that when any qualification is entered (by a tutor or a student), we can look at that qualification and decide whether it has been entered correctly, and if not, it will be displayed in the correct way. I say ‘we’, but of course it’s all automated. The qualifications will then all be categorised (which is very complicated), so that at the instant a student enters a qualification, we can compare it to each tutor’s profile, and see who is best suited to teach the student.
What everyone will notice in a few weeks is that when you go to enter a qualification, we’ll have a predictive autocomplete list, which will encourage tutors and students to spell things correctly, and enter the right information.
