We’ve probably just passed the yearly nadir of tutoring in terms of the number of requests from students. It’s very unusual for requests at the start of July, mainly because exams have finished, and people haven’t quite started to think about summer tuition yet. Over the last few days we’ve seen a significant increase in requests for tutors, and it should continue to increase pretty much until June next year!
As for me, I’ve been doing something quite dull this week, and that’s creating systems which summarise our annual and quarterly accounts returns (tax, PAYE and VAT). Not fun, but really had to be done, and should mean that in future, on the day a return is due, I can just click one button and do everything. That may not seem like it directly improves Blue Tutors, but it means that rather than sweating over these returns every few months, I can use that time much more productively.
Otherwise, I did a day of assessments in London this week, where we definitely recruited a lot of good new tutors. As I’ve said before, that’s always a fun thing for me to do, and gets me away from the office for a few hours. I’ve also got my list of an categorised qualifications down to below 5,000, which was the plan. I’ve got to try and bash through that now, before our online tuition is ready, because I’m anticipating being very busy with that over the next month.
