I’m actually writing this slightly later than I would normally, simply because I forgot to write my blog this week! The reason is that the tutoring course that was cancelled for Saturday was rearranged for Wednesday of this week, so after thinking that I had lots more time to make the finishing touches, I was plunged back into a deadline situation.
In truth there wasn’t that much left to do, but I have tinkered a bit with some of the exercises. What the course tries to do is to create situations for the participants which help them to realise the importance of our tutoring ideas. Put in a realistic context (given a subject and level of tuition), this isn’t too difficult a task, but I want the exercises to be accessible but not simple, and that’s a much more difficult task. However, I think I’ve come up with some good ideas, and we’ll see how they go on Wednesday.
If everything does go well then I’ll be able to start offering the course to our tutors, or to people who want to become our tutors.
