It’s been good to get back to a normal week after all the travelling and events over the last few weeks. By far the biggest task last week was to find someone to replace Harriet while she’s away. I had a packed day of interviews on Friday, and hopefully I’ve found the right person to be our admin exec for the next 6 months. I always find those interviews much more difficult that assessing tutors, because, with tutors, I’m simply deciding whether the person can teach at a certain level, there is no quota to accept or reject. However, in choosing the best person to do the admin job, I inevitably have to turn down a number of great candidates, all of whom would probably work out really well, just because there is that one perfect person for the position.
This week is now likely to be filled with me training the new admin exec, and transferring everything over from Harriet. Weirdly enough, although I obviously love teaching, this isn’t much fun for me, because I’m just paranoid that I’ll forget something really important which will create massive problems within a few weeks.
