Yesterday was our new admin exec’s first day. If you’re a tutor or a student then you may begin to receive emails from Laura, who has now taken over the reins from Harriet. As I said last week, there were lots of good applicants for the position, and it was tough to decide between 3 people in particular, but in the end Laura’s history with us as a tutor and her obvious enthusiasm for the job meant that she was the outstanding candidate.
Weirdly, despite employing Laura, the last week has been quite good in terms of how much I’ve been able to do. Part of that, I’m sure, is due to jetlag – you can’t help but be productive when you’re up and wide awake at 5am every morning. Nothing that I did was particularly interesting, so I’m not about to bore you with it (unless anyone wants to know about a webpage designed to test a new accounting system that we’ve recently implemented?), but it was nice to get some things out of the way before this week where I’m anticipating spending a lot of my time supporting Laura as she learns the job.
