Sunny Oxford and Cambridge

So we distributed our flyers in Cambridge on Thursday and then in Oxford yesterday; the two working days of the year when I get to do some manual labour, which is kind of fun. I was dreading it, given what the weather was like only a week ago, but thankfully that changed, and there are few nicer places to be than Oxford or Cambridge when the sun’s shining.

Obviously the result of the flyering is a mass influx of keen new tutors. We’ve had hundreds of new applicants so far, and that looks set to continue into the summer. Now I’ve got to persuade all of our assessors to arrange loads of assessment days over the next 3 months.

The other major task from last week was more work on the qualification categorisation. I’ve now printed out all the disciplines that have been entered (by tutors and students) more than once, and had them cut up, so I have loads of little pieces of paper each with a discipline on. There are just under 1,000 of those bits of paper, and my plan is to fit them into a Venn diagram, before adding the disciplines that have only been entered once, of which there are over 2,500! I’m not looking forward to doing that, and will probably need some help from friends who are much more qualified to do that than I am.
