Pointless and Tutor Flyering

It’s not related to tutoring, but I was in the audience of Pointless last week! My friend was a contestant, and, knowing that I love the show, asked if I wanted to come along. It’s just my sort of thing: obscure knowledge, with a Family Fortunes tweak (which I used to love).

TV game-shows aside, which only took out one of my days last week, Harriet’s back into the swing of things now, so I feel better able to start planning for the future. Rhian was great, but there really is a lot of value in an employee who has been at a company for ages. Rhian was really still learning the position for the three months when she was with us, whereas Harriet knows the job so well, that I can give her more responsibility.

One of the things I did last week was to plan our flyering for new tutors in Oxford and Cambridge again. A friend recently asked me why I’m still doing that, and haven’t asked some of the students to do it for us. The truth is that I really enjoy it. Sitting in front of a computer screen for most of the year means that I don’t want to miss an opportunity to do something physical, and I always feel like I’ve done a hard day’s work when we’ve finished.
