I did some tutor assessments last week, which went well. To be honest, I think I always say they went well, and that’s probably largely because it’s exciting to meet even a single tutor who is going to represent us well. However, I have noticed a trend over the last few years of tutors improving. It used to be quite common for an applicant to turn up and just lecture for 15 minutes; I would say that 1 in 10 people fell into that trap. However, that’s incredibly rare now, which I hope is because we’ve built a reputation for our tutoring standards, so people are more aware of how important it is to thoroughly read our teaching guidelines and do their best to follow them.
The last week has had traces of a hangover from the previous week of trying to sort everything in my new flat out. I’ve been trying to make up for all the scheduled work I didn’t do, and basically planning about 30 hours of work each day, which is just silly. One of the things I achieved was to practically finish a new look for the website, and that should be changed within a couple of months (I’ve got to make sure every page fits the new look, which is the reason for that timescale).
