While I tend to hate programming in Javascript, you can use it to do some really cool stuff, and the frustration quickly disappears when you see something working smoothly and perfectly. This week it was more online tuition work. I was designing the messaging system, because the idea is that students will generally want to have a quick text chat with their tutor before deciding that they should start a lesson. All tutors will have a sidebar which flashes when a student messages them, not sure about any kind of noise for now – I think that might be a bit intrusive. It’s not rocket science, and I think we’ve all used software that does a similar thing, but it’s a really nice feeling to create something which works so well, and looks really nice!
Otherwise our summer tutor assessments are continuing apace. I did some last week, and am doing some more this week. I’m trying not to do many, but the demand was so great that the time slots with every other London assessor had been quickly booked, and for the next couple of months I’m keen to ensure that there is always an available assessment day in London.
