Lots of Lessons in March, and the most Popular Tutoring Days

It was nice to see last week that March has picked up in terms of the number of lessons being taught. I reported a couple of weeks ago that February was a bit down on 2012, but March is now ahead of the same time last year. It’s really difficult to explain why that happens; if there’s a noticeable shift in the date of exams then that affects the amount of tuition in a particular month, but February is one of the few months which really shouldn’t be affected; there’s always a half-term in it, and it’s significantly after the January exams so that, if students asked for a small break in their tutoring following the exams, they would have started again.

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, I have had a look at the most popular days for tuition, and it’s pretty interesting, at least for me! The most popular days are Monday and Wednesday, and the least popular is Friday. Just over 16% of tuition takes place on Monday and Wednesday, and just under 10% on Friday. When I think back to when I started tutoring, it really makes sense, because I tried to keep Friday and Saturday nights free, but would happily tutor on any other night, and during the day on weekends.
