Lots of Thinking, but Few Tangible Results

I couldn’t really think of an appropriate title for what I’ve achieved in the last week, so sorry if it seems slightly pessimistic. I’m happy with what I’ve done, but it’s difficult to express that without talking about concrete results.

I’ve clarified the way in which I want to train tutors to assess for us in future, and this week I plan to contact a few of our experienced tutors to see if they’re keen to assess for us; I now feel pretty confident about the training, which is in no small way down to how helpful the two people I’ve already trained were, thank you!

I’ve also set out a plan for the group teaching course that I’m working on (training groups of people to tutor). It’s a real minefield for me, because I’m so used to teaching 1-to-1. Every time I write something down, I realise why it might not be so effective in a group. However, I’m quite happy with what I’ve produced so far, and I think it’s just a case of getting in the right frame of mind when I’m working on the course.

Something else that I’ve thought about is adding a report system to the website which will allow tutors to submit their comments after lessons with students. It won’t be compulsory, but I think it could really help the communication and organisation between tutors and students. I have to discuss this further with Harriet and Cammil, but hopefully it should be something which is added soon.
