Phew! I’ve pretty much finished categorising all the qualifications. I’ve got the figure down to under 1,000, and I plan to finish them off later today. The next task is to create an algorithm which will determine how matched a tutor is to a student’s request based on the tutor’s qualifications. If I’m honest, I’ve got no idea how to that at the moment, and I’m hoping/expecting to work it out when I sit down to do it. The nice thing is that it’s not a case of wading through, I actually have to be intelligent about it, so I’m more excited about getting started than intimidated by the amount of work.
I met some good programmers in Cambridge last week, and have some more people to meet in Oxford at the start of March, so I’m confident that over Easter our online tuition project will be up and running.
I’m also close to finishing the course to teach tutoring that I’ve been working on. I’ve agreed to test it out with a group of volunteer tutors in a couple of weeks, so while I’m panicking slightly about how much time I have left to do that, the deadline is good for me. It makes it easier to prioritise certain things, and I’m going to get cracking on finishing off the course now...
