Last week I met with someone who is starting up a charitable organisation to help students in deprived areas. The idea is for a tutor to have an intensive lesson of only 10 minutes with each student, but to cover as much as possible in that time. I think it’s a really good idea, and will give kids the personal attention which they badly need, but which many schools simply can’t provide. The opportunity for our tutors to get involved won’t happen until March 2013 at the earliest, but I was happy to get involved in the planning stages, and make sure they know what we’re able to do.
I also did some assessments in Cambridge last Thursday. It had been absolutely ages since the last time I did any assessing, and I still really enjoy doing them. We’ve been a little short on assessments in Cambridge recently because our only assessor there has been a little ill, so sorry if you’re a prospective Cambridge tutor who has been waiting for ages to be assessed. If you missed me on Thursday then don’t worry, we’ll arrange some more soon.
