Unpaid Lesson Fees
It is a sad fact that we do occasionally get clients who fail to pay up despite having enjoyed a significant period of tuition. We do strongly advise that you don’t allow a large amount of fees to accrue but understand that sometimes, during periods of intensive lessons, this may prove more difficult to avoid than it sounds.
Earlier this week I received a call from a tutor who was having trouble receiving her lesson fees from a client who had bounced cheques on her twice. The tutor had become overdrawn as a result of this and incurred bank charges. It was only at this point, however, that she decided to call us. If you are having problems with payment do keep us informed. If we need to act then we need to know all the circumstances.
If this is your case, then have a look at our website where there is guidance on how to handle these situations. We even have two letters which you can download and send to your clients. They are very firm though so we suggest you have exhausted all other avenues before you resort to these letters.
Avoidance however, is better than cure. So make sure you are paid as regularly as possible, or preferably upfront. You can always return unused credit.
