    Academic subjects can be so dry when you’re at school. Teachers try hard to make it interesting but the same things just don’t interest everyone. This year I am determined to get my students reading more. Reading more is key to understanding the techniques used by authors - the analysis of which is a key skill in both English Language and Literature. It also improves vocabulary, spelling, creative writing, paragraphing and sentence construction.

    The publication of the A’ level results revealed that there has been a 0.4% drop in the number of students gaining the top grades of A and A*. As a result, more students have missed their first choice offers than in previous years and have had some difficult decisions to make.

    The publication of today’s A’level results has drawn attention to the fact that science and maths are becoming more popular amongst students, with an average of 3% more students taking these subjects compared with last year.
