A national network of admissions experts in the US has bought a peer-tutoring company in an attempt to expand its services and grow the number of students employed. Aristotle Circle have previously been used by parents and students for a variety of services such as polishing interview skills, creating CVs, and improving education and career portfolios. However, the company’s CEO and founder, Suzanne Rheault, said that last year they began looking for ways to expand, particularly focussing on the tuition services that they provide.
Aristotle Circle chose to approach Peer2Peer, which mainly operated in the New Jersey, Connecticut and Washington DC areas. Peer2Peer match existing students with their peers to provide a good quality, but low price tuition service. Peer2Peer has employed 5,000 students within the areas where they have students, but with this merger, Aristotle Circle are confident that they can double that figure.
With many companies charging hundreds of dollars an hour for a private tutor, the $40-60 charged by Peer2Peer will make them a very attractive proposition for many parents on the East coast. Rheault said that she thinks that some of the students they help will not have had a tutor before because of the traditionally restrictive prices.
The details of the merger were not disclosed, but the plan is to increase the network of Peer2Peer as far north as Boston, and establish a base for them in New York. They hope to have hired 100 top-performing high school students.
