Not Many Tutors Want to be Assessed in Cambridge

Today I’m doing some tutor assessments in Cambridge. It’s actually the first time since June that we’ve had any assessments in Cambridge because, at the moment, we don’t have any assessors based there. I had imagined being there more regularly over the summer because my sister lives in Cambridge, but I just haven’t been organised enough to know about my visits significantly far in advance. The weird thing is that, despite not having any Cambridge assessments for 4 months, not many tutors have signed up for today, at least not compared to Oxford, where we’ve had regular assessments over the summer and yet many more tutors have signed up there for assessments this week.

It would actually be great to find someone in Cambridge who could assess tutors for us. Until now our Cambridge assessors have been quite transient compared to our Oxford assessors; something which has really happened by chance; I do hope that assessors will assess tutors for a few years, but it’s difficult for anyone to guarantee their location very far in advance. I am still working on designing our tutor assessment system, so once I’ve done that I’ll make a concerted effort to find a new assessor in Cambridge, hopefully someone who will be there for quite a while. Until then I think I just need to be a bit more organised and arrange more frequent Cambridge assessments.
