Rhian is away this week. I say away, but she was originally only supposed to work until the end of March, but because Harriet’s not back for another couple of weeks, Rhian’s last week will be next week. Basically that means I have to man the fort for now, and you might be thinking that there are only 4 working days this week so it should be easy, but being a tuition agency during the Easter holidays means there are no such things as bank holidays.
I’ve said it before, but again I’m always disappointed about the number of tutoring requests we receive over Easter. If I was a better businessman I would probably be more savvy at capitalising on the tuition rush at this time of year; running Easter revision classes and things like that. The reason it’s disappointing is because every tutor will tell you how much more effective private tuition is when it’s done regularly over a long period. We find that people starting in Easter often have more lessons than those who had planned their tutor earlier, so it’s better for business, but the feedback we receive is that it’s not nearly as effective because of the short time available to do homework and think properly about each lesson.
