A leading provider of online tutoring, tutor.com, recently launched an app for the Apple store, described as ‘the first of its kind’. The application allows students to upload and photograph teaching materials, such as textbooks, or information from a board in their classroom, which can later be used in an online tuition lesson.
George Cigale, CEO of tutor.com, said that students will appreciate being able to access materials stored in their ‘online locker’, and also being able to review past lessons with their tutors on their iPod Touch or iPhone. It’s designed for busy students on the go.
Although not implemented yet, the next stage is for tutor.com to actually allow students to connect to their tutor through a mobile device. This will allow quick and easy online lessons whenever a student is stuck, whether at school or at home, 24 hours a day.
