Kaplan Tutoring has teamed up with Computers for Youth (CFY) to bring online learning into the homes of students in the United States. In a report on marketwatch.com, it’s explained that the two companies have combined their expertise to offer after-school education to many low income families.
CFY runs a scheme called ‘Take IT Home’, where it offers students the opportunity to attend a computer workshop, and then take the machine home on a free basis for one year. Kaplan have added extra value to this scheme. They have first designed a set-up orientation program, so that students can better learn how to use their computers once they get home with them. However, Kaplan have also developed online tutoring software which helps users with their reading and maths.
Kaplan’s tutoring software is available to all students involved in the Take IT Home scheme in the year 2009-2010. This encompasses some 4,000 students in New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Los Angeles and San Francisco. Further information on Kaplan Tutoring can be found on their website: www.kaplantutoring.com
