Actor Mark Wahlberg has said that he wants to work with a tutor to try and get the High School Diploma that he didn’t get when he was young. Speaking to the Sun, Wahlberg said that one of his main motivations was to get his diploma before his kids graduate: “I need to get a diploma before my kids graduate! I definitely want to further my education. I’ve got a few years.”
The Hollywood star, currently promoting his newest film, The Fighter, dropped out of school in his teens. He developed a drug addiction, became involved in crime, and spent a significant amount of time in prison. Despite subsequently building a very successful career in film, Wahlberg has resolved to boost his academic ability, which is why he has hired a private tutor.
Wahlberg was recently talking to someone on a plane who said “Oh, I’ll get a guy to come over and tutor you for a couple of hours”, and Wahlberg replied, “It will be more like a couple of months. He added “I think I’ve got to do it (hire a tutor and get his diploma). I’ll feel great about it once I do”.
