Stop Stealing Dreams - Seth Godin’s approach to Education
“The economy has changed, probably forever.
School hasn't.
School was invented to create a constant stream of compliant factory workers to the growing businesses of the 1900s. It continues to do an excellent job at achieving this goal, but it's not a goal we need to achieve any longer.”
This is what Seth says at the beginning of his 30,000 word manifesto on education. Seth thinks education should be exciting, inspiring and fulfilling.
I think so too.
Ask yourself honestly if you inspire your students, if your students inspire you to do a better job? If not, why not? Tutoring is wholly different to schooling. Within your own lessons and on a one-to-one basis you really have the opportunity to make a difference. Ask yourself if you are taking that chance.
