In a report by the BBC it’s claimed that India is beginning to compete with western institutions in the battle to educate western children. The two main methods of dong this are through online tuition, and private Indian boarding schools.

The benefits of private tuition have long been known, and tutorvista, an Indian company, are capitalising on the increased demand for supplementary help for British and American students. While online tuition isn’t as effective as face-to-face tuition, the cost of employing a tutor in India, compared to the UK, means that students are taking advantage of what is maybe a slightly lower standard of teaching, but at a much lower price.

Boarding schools in India are also starting to take on more British and American students for similar reasons; the cost of attending such a school in India is approximately a quarter of the school tuition fees charged in the UK. The facilities in the 26 private boarding schools across India are excellent, and many of the British students at these schools have said that they feel happier at school in India than they did in the UK.
